//Dear BP,

Tony Longshanks LeTigre here, editor and creator of */ZiP: Zine in
Progress/*, a new MegaZine for hackers, tech nerds, squatters,
occupiers, beautiful freaks and benevolent mutations of every variety.
ZiP hails from San Francisco and is inspired by and focused on
Noisebridge <https://noisebridge.net> hackerspace in the Mission
District, but we expect it to have a global audience courtesy of the
burgeoning network of hacker and computer security communities and
conferences worldwide. Though it is more or less a hacker zine, its
content is not exclusively programming or code, but in fact a variety
bag encompassing a broad definition of "hacking," as you will see from
the content list below (see end of message).

ZiP01, the first installment of ZiP MegaZine, launched on Valentine's
Day (Feb. 14), 2012 with a party at Noisebridge. A small initial print
run of 100 copies was distributed at the space. At the same time ZiP01
went live in full-text, full color on *ZZW*
<http://zine.noisebridge.net>, the ZiP Zine Website. It is available to
read or download in its entirety, free of charge. The downloadable PDF
is print-ready (not in reading order). Readers can also order print
copies from us - *zipzine at riseup.net* - at a cost of $7.00 per copy plus
shipping. This price is hardly more than the cost of printing. ZiP01 is
58 pages plus front and back covers; the covers along with 6 additional
pages are printed in full color, the rest in black & white. Format is
folio print on letter size paper, meaning the size of a ZiP page is 8.5"
high by 5.5" wide. (That may change with ZiP02, due out April 1st.)

Please note that the pagination of ZiP is in Hexadecimal, rather than
the usual decimal format.

We would love for /Broken Pencil/ to review ZiP. This
<http://zine.noisebridge.net/2012/02/zip01-is-online-now/> post lists
the options for online viewing and downloading, with links to each. I
recommend viewing the high-res JPEGs!

Zinetically yours,

--
