i understand what we do with the floors is not
certain and may depend on what's what at tomorrow
night's meeting, or if not that meeting, some
other meeting where consensus yays or nays.
briefly, i think it will take from five to eight
days with several people working together all those
days. it'll take rental equipment, sandable fillers,
shellac, and floor finish, which'll cost something
like $2K.
if we do the floors, we'll have to bite the do-it
bullet. seems to me we should have a budget for
pickup labor in the amount of $3K.
total estimated maximum cost looks like $6K and
a fair amount of sweat.

the benefit of doing the floors is good cleanup:
food and drink spills will either soak into the grain
and cracks to attract rats and insects for weeks
hence or they'll be easy to clean up. wet spills will
either seep down to the neighbors below or they'll be
easy to clean up. small bits of broken glass and metal
filings will either hide in the grain and cracks for
oncoming bare feet and animal paws and shoe soles or
they'll be easy to clean up.
i think doing the floors will be worth it.
note: doing the floors is not about making them look
pretty, tho' that may be a mild side effect.

tho'ts?
