Yes, agreed. Completely stripping the current coating would be a massive pain 
in the ass and go through so much sandpaper that it wouldn't even be worth it. 
The end result would look absolutely beautiful for about a week until 
furniture starts getting moved around.

I do think that a full down-to-the-wood sanding should get done back by the 
kitchen area though. Its pretty gnarly and gross around the sink and not too 
big of an area.
