BTW, there are a few Conrad stores in Berlin. (They are kinda like a big
version Radio Shack.) Here's a list of DECT phones they sell:

You can also bring any old dumb GSM phone, and buy a SIM card for 5 EUR at CCCamp, and you can then be part of the same system, and call anyone on the CCCamp DECT/GSM system during all of CCCamp.

I'm bringing my German DECT phone (which I bought many years ago). I register mine for every event as:
     2676 (CORN)

Just like the wifi, GSM cell service will be in the area but most likely over saturated and completely useless.
This is a useful wiki...

You can generally get SIM cards almost anywhere in Berlin.

Do you know if the camp has standard cell coverage (for data) if I were to buy a SIM card in Berlin?

Some folks at camp will run a telephone network that covers DECT and GSM cell phones. You two can be a part of this and have a really easy and also reliable way of folks to communicate with you at Camp. Register your number now!

What is DECT? They're a standard for cordless home phones. They're also cheap, like €20 at a Mediamart. Check the link above for a list of ones that are compatible with the network.
What is GSM? It's a type of cell network. If you've got a chepo old unlocked phone, you can go to the phone village at Camp and buy a SIM card for cheap, throw it into your cell phone, and use their network for voice and SMS within camp.
