I was looking at <http://www.kc8unj.com/>.  It supports other Yaesu
models, but not the VX-8R.  (I think I came across some another for the
VX-7R when I was googling yesterday, but I don't have the URLs handy.)

Yeah, it'd definitely be worth a shot.

Anyone have a cable I can borrow? :-)
