Hi all,

My friend Dennis Shasha, a professor at NYU, is looking for people to
help him and his student develop a fine-grained place sensing system
for blind persons. Dennis has a graduate student who is blind; this
student reports problems with such things as finding his way to a
hotel room after checking in. They have come up with an idea that
involves placing RFID tags at different waypoints and then using an
iphone or other device to read the tags and plot a route. They also
have some other assistive ideas. They could use someone, however, with
hardware hacking experience. That's what made me think of the cyborg
group. :)

Would anyone be interested in helping put this together? Let me know
or contact Dennis directly at shasha at courant.nyu.edu
