I don't have ALS but I gotta say those glasses are super cool! 
Apparently they built them for only $50, from a playstation webcam.  And 
the eye-tracking software itself is open source :-).  The developer 
video is a little slow, but there is some good stuff in there:

They just raised $15k to help their friend with ALS use this system to 
make art.  That's pretty awesome!
