[German] Two phrases, one of them "ironic".

First of all, it's not that ironic. Just a bit. That's because it is more 
direct and some people could misunderstand it as an insult (so you should be 
really good friends!). You could reverse the sentence and say:

Als guter Freund sollte ich deine guten Gewohnheiten unterstuetzen.
As a good friend, I should lend your good habits support.

That wouldn't be ironic anymore. Maybe that explains it better.
