Dear Noisebridgers,

A meeting is commencing TODAY at 3pm to discuss various aspects of our book
scanning future. Never heard of book scanners but suddenly feel a tingle
of archival excitement? Visit DIYBookScanner.org for more information.

This is a project that could take many forms and directions, from the
infomercially simple buying of a Daniel Reetz kit (available to NB at a
discount) and accompanying cameras and platen glass, all the way on up to
developing, prototyping and producing a uniquely Noisebridge design
expressly suited to the needs of its usership. Either end of the spectrum,
and anything in between, will require corresponding amounts of skills in
fabrication, robotics, circuit hacking, photography, OCR software,
programming and other assorted tricks of the digital archivism trade.

Anyone up for anything from brainstorming to brick laying in the pursuit of
making a Book Scanner a reality at Noisebridge in the not so distant
future, please join us at 3pm, today. If you can't make it but want to
stay in the loop, get in touch with me at newmy51[at]gmail[dot]com or
5o567o9o9o.

Hope to see you all this afternoon.

-Danny N.
