Heh. I hope people can chill out and make stuff happen rather than
complaining too much -- in either direction, I'm just as much talking
about "I can't do my project because $FOO says no!" as "I don't want to
lose the capabilities we have now, don't break it!".

It's incredibly valuable to respond to a project suggestion with "have
you considered my use case?" or "I currently depend on behavior $FOO,
let's try to preserve that".

The amplifier has 4 inputs (don't use the tape input, it's confusing).
We can manually choose the inputs for now, for jukebox.noise + iPod +
AppleThingy + SliMP3 or whatever. If two people in the space want to
argue over what gets played at a given time, I hope we can work it out.
Either that, or we set up a jello wrestling ring in the main floor and
sell tickets. Mano a mano, slipperiest hacker wins.

This doesn't address Seth's concern about the BART announcements. I
don't have a good answer except that I'd prefer the BART announcement
not depend on large fragile systems. Maybe a separate machine wired to
a standalone speaker -- can we use the doorbell speaker for this?

Oh, and the next time somebody says "I object to $TECHNOLOGY_FOO, you
should use $TECHNOLOGY_BAR instead" they've just signed up to do 50% of
the work in the project. Don't block, be productive. :) And if you
don't like the result, fix it. (JSharp and I did just this with the
Ruckus AP -- he got the config and wiring off the ground and up and
running, I found some places where I felt a different config would be
better so I implemented it and documented the result. Hopefully I
didn't step on too many toes, and we have a far better system far faster
than if we'd had a long preimplementation discussion.)
