While at the Austin Maker Faire I saw the premier episode of MAKE TV, which is due to debut in 80% of the US in January on PBS. They have 10 episodes. Looks like decent TV. (And I have a 2-minute segment in it turning off TVs with my TV-B-Gone hat). So, yeah, looks like there is a trend happening now, where somehow geeks are becoming cool. :)
For the MAKE TV show they have categories for the makers they show, such as "scientist", "engineer", and for the segment I'm in they created a category called "trouble maker" (meant as a good thing). So far I'm the only one in this category, and they'd like more. If anyone else wants to be a "trouble maker" and be on MAKE TV with one (or more) of their projects, lemme know and I'll get you in touch with the producer.
Mitch.

Hi all,Earlier this week Prototype This premiered on the Discovery Channel - from the same production company at Mythbusters, looks to be a fairly interesting show (especially if they manage to get the redundant elements removed and show more of what they are actually hacking on and building). But that said, take a look at http://www.grandideastudio.com/portfolio/pt-mind-controlled-car/- production notes and schematics from the first episode. Seems like a good trend, hopefully many other great hacker friendly shows will do something similar - between Prototype This and History Hacker (Bre Prettis's show which I hope gets picked up) seems like there is a wave of new shows on TV which are showing hackers in a fairly positive light. Anyway, also great to see that San Francisco seems to be a hotbed of fairly interesting tech focused shows.Shannon-- Founder, Nearness Function - brand advertising & sponsorshipsBlog: Slow Brand - http://slowbrand.com
