[Noisebridge-discuss] Noisebridge's Law of Forums : [drama]

Don't be so pessimistic! Lots of good email threads make it onto this
list. Even some healthy contentious threads here and there. I wouldn't tag
a thread as [drama] until it turns demoralizing and oriented away from
achieving any sort of goal. Which only happens occasionally.
I also don't think it works to forbid drama or splinter into other lists.
That's why I promote the [drama] tag as a way for people to contribute to
the moderation of said drama without explicitly banning or restricting it.
Thanks for helping me sort my inbox!

Well that makes it easy for Mr. Fine and the rest of us who would like
to filter out drama: Everything should be treated as [DRAMA], except
anything explicitly labeled something useful.
Hence signaltunnel (the google group I set up expressly for nothing but
project discussions). I was talking about it with friends recently, sad
that it had basically zero traffic. They had a great point: "Wait, so you
set up a mailing list that's -discuss without the drama, and then were
surprised when it got no traffic? Really?"
I'm hoping the spacebridge folks have a good project report coming up
soon!--Josh Myer 650.248.3796
