[Noisebridge-discuss] more EagleCAD and making our own PCBs

Dear people crazy / committed enough to still be reading -discuss!

_Item 1_

I just read through this recipe for home-brew PCBs:

http://www.make-digital.com/make/vol02/?pg=166&pm=2&u1=friend

It sure does make it look easy! The kind of PCBs I've been working on
are too little and complicated for such a process, and BatchPCB makes
one-off boards totally affordable (if you can handle waiting 3
weeks...). So, I wouldn't want to pretend that there is any practical
purpose to making a couple home-brew boards. But why should that stop
me? Or you for that matter?

On that note, who would like to spend an afternoon making our own
PCBs? We'd have to know how many people we are to get the supplies,
and notably the etching phase would have to take place outside
somehow, but other than that it should be totally doable. And list
safety trolls, dangerous chemicals, proper disposal, yes, I got it.
Please remain calm.

(I'm thinking it'd be really rad to make boards shaped as the NB logo
outline and then the NB circuit on them, but with maybe a blinkenlight
and a buzzer added to the mix. To those ends, anyone know the status
of the CNC mill?)

_Item 2_

On the topic of PCB design, I've heard interest in another intro
EagleCAD workshop more than I've heard for more advanced Eagle stuff.
I'd be happy to lead another such workshop, whether it cover the intro
stuff or something more advanced.

If you like either suggestions, you know the drill: replies come on-
or off-list, critical interest is achieved, wiki page is made/updated,
thing is scheduled.

-Skory
