I think part of the paranoia is that, as far as I know, no one has  
said where the mercury came from. That means that there could,  
potentially, be more mercury in other places since we don't know what  
object on or above the table dropped it and whether that same object  
is, for example, sitting on a shelf or in the work area in back,  
leaking mercury.
