I agree servers, especially vintage ones suck up lots of power, produce
heat, are loud, etc - they totally belong in a server room...  

...Hoever, what's better: hiding the equipment that was donated to NB,
physically outside of the space and only accessible to a tiny minority
at layer 1 OR making them available to any guest/member, as they see
fit, whenever?

Instead of out right 'banning' servers (lets face it, NB has folks who
knob turn for a living and those who'd like to learn more), maybe a cap
on Amps and/or dB for the 'server room' in space 2.0 (the current space
is way too small for this) would work better?  This is part of the
reason I'm a big fan of Soekris-style routers and appliances for the
space, a few amps vs. big Cisco boxes. 

If the existing servers aren't of major use to NB (due say vintage,
U space, power, etc requirements) why not just donated them to ACCRC
(or to a member who really wants them)?
