[Noisebridge-discuss] question, MiniPOV -> TVBGone

Hey Eve,

As Rachel said, I have a TV-B-Gone kit that comes with all of the parts for making your own TV-B-Gone (that comes with a microcontroller that is pre-programmed with the TV-B-Gone firmware).

Also as Rachel said, I developed the TV-B-Gone kit by first hacking the MiniPOV3 kit (as I've hacked the MiniPOV3 kit to do the Brain Machine, the Trippy RGB Light, the LED Cube, the Solar BugBot, and other projects, all on my website, CornfieldElectronics.com). The complete plans for the TV-B-Gone hack of the MiniPOV3 is on my website (as with all the other projects there). If you want to hack your MiniPOV3 into a TV-B-Gone, you need an IR emitter and a transistor (and you need to unsolder some components, and you need to re-program the microcontroller with the TV-B-Gone firmware for the MiniPOV3 hack, that is free and open-source from my website). This hack does work, but you are limited by the rather small memory of the microcontroller that comes with the MiniPOV3 kit -- so you can only get about 7 POWER codes. The TV-B-Gone kit, on the other hand, fits 45 POWER codes (and the commercial TV-B-Gone -- the keychain -- has about 140 POWER codes).

I can show you all the options if you come by tomorrow night.

Cheers,

Mitch.
