So,
I brought a Kyocera KR-1 that is bricked (bad firmware upgrade) that may be
unbrickable but haven't tried.
I've also brought a Soekris Net4521. With a 64MB CF card
Neither of these have power supplies handy.
However, I've also got two Evdo cards. One is Verizon, the other is Sprint
(revA), both are pcmcia/cardbus. I haven't tried either in a couple years -
but they may still work w/ service plans (and may have active service
plans).
At any rate, I don't have time to work on any of this - but I'll drop 'em
off at noisebridge later tonight. If someone can take a stab at getting
one, or both units working w/ the internets. I have used both of these
successfully in the past; sorry there are parts missing. Might be fools
errands! I'd suggest seeing if the cards work in lappy486's first, and then
take stabs at bootstrapping the little rooter guize.
If no one is successful, I guess I can tether my g1... not as leet. Maybe
someone wants to lend a Mifi for the trip?
