[Noisebridge-discuss] Another DIYbio thread!

My dearest Noisebridge,

DIYbio hasn't been the most ideal collaborator, I know. I understand
that this is frustrating and generally Not Excellent, but other people
have brought that up, and the discussion can go on in that thread.
For now, let's talk about you and your feelings.

I'd like you to think about how you feel about DIYbio. We'll
definitely be discussing the DIYbio thing at an upcoming Tuesday
meeting, and the people who use 83c should be prepared to ensure their
positions are represented. This includes both members and
non-members, since safety is a universal concern. Non-members can't
block, but they are encouraged to discuss, and might find members who
will proxy for them.

The critical question to ask yourself: Am I comfortable sharing my
space with DIYbio? If you answer "yes, with no provisions," I worry,
but, great! You're done, and can stop reading this thread.
Personally, I need more detail. To wit, here are the questions I've
been asking myself:

Am I comfortable with:
1. what DIYbio wants to store here?
2. how DIYbio is going to store it?
3. what DIYbio is doing with these things?
4. how DIYbio is going about these things (esp. cleanup)?
5. that DIYbio will follow the processes/protocols governing "how"?

If I am comfortable with these criteria, I should be comfortable with
DIYbio sharing the space. (Am I missing anything from my list?)

For the DIYbio people: please think about how you'd inform
Noisebridgers about each of these areas, and how to assuage any
concerns they may raise.

This kind of breakdown will let us focus our discussions, and, more
importantly, allow us to make iterative progress towards mutual
understanding. For instance, once everyone is comfortable with #1, we
don't need to talk about the samples again (until they change).
