A long time ago I needed insurance for a class, and I purchased it 
through an agent recommended by Zach Radding, of Zach's Cool Stuff. I 
could probably dig out some old email from him if you need contact info.

Zach did a lot of teaching from his place in Berkeley, and would be a 
great resource for both ideas and concrete answers to questions like this.
