Hey Noisebridge,

Thanks to everyone who came to the Spatial Imaging Workshop last night. Lots of enthusiasm & many people seemed to be working on 3D stuff, video, electronic music or interactive projects of their own. Next workshop will be more hands on.

The need expand on this system is obvious. As some of you know, I'm looking at funding opportunities to help get this going. It will pay for the materials to build three larger displays of a very simple design, plus fund a series of workshops at Noisebridge that will revolve around creating artistic content, experimentation with future display designs for larger viewing, and finally an art show with the created content. Spatial art will be the main focus, not the technology behind it, no one should be left out.

A letter was sent to a funder, outlining my proposal, the letter was also posted on this list. They accepted my concept and invited us for a full proposal, which is nearly finished & ready for submission. It's for an arts grant, so they are very supportive of interesting new media ideas, and expect nothing in return except that cool art is created & shown at an event! The workshop helped give me a stronger idea how we can work together on this.

This Friday, May 22nd at 11:00 AM I'll be meeting with the arts organization that is fiscally sponsoring this proposal, they have helped me greatly shape up the final proposal. It would nice if folks from Noisebridge interested in exploring this project could come by then to voice their input. This would mostly relate to how the workshops at Noisebridge would evolve, and how we can work together to create a cool work of art that truly pushes the envelope, and thinks way outside the box.

We will be meeting on Mission St. near 9th. If anyone wants to be involved in this process, I an come by Noisebridge around 10:00 AM & we could head over there together or meet there if that's closer to you.

As for the work getting all the materials together for the proposal, I told Noisebridge early on I would take on all the work in this area. This meeting would just be to help the fiscal sponsor better understand how these workshops might proceed, and for Noisebridge members to have some input at this stage. I'll do "all the work", but would like to keep everyone's voice involved.

Thanks,
Walter

PS If you missed the workshop, I'll be at the Maker Faire too. Look for the Hologlyphics tent.
