I thought this might be of interest to people on the NB and the Dorkbot lists.
Cheers,
Mitch.

Hi Mitch,
We met shortly at HAR, where I attended your talk on hacker spaces. I
was giving a talk on distributed social networks there.
I thought you and the Bay Area Hacker Spaces might be interested to
know that we are organising a Social Web Camp that will be taking
place on Santa Clara on November 2nd.
[[
Imagine a world where everybody could participate easily in a
distributed yet secure social web. In such a world every individual
will control their own information, and every business could enter
into a conversation with customers, researchers, government agencies
and partners as easily as they can now start a conversation with
someone on Facebook. What is needed to go in the direction of The
Internet of Subjects Manifesto? What existing technologies can we
build on? What is missing? What could the W3C contribute? What could
others do?

I will be presenting a simple solution using only existing web
standards, that is easy to implement and that enables this. This would
allow all the hacker spaces to create together a distributed social
network for example.
Could you forward this to any people you think it might interest, and
ask them to forward it too, tweet about it, or whatever is needed to
get the message out? :-)
Thanks in advance,
Henry
PS. I'll be over the whole of November in the Bay Area, and look
forward to coming to any of the hacker spaces, and talking on this
subject too, and perhaps even get some implementations working.
