I believe it may be possible to get an Adobe license at a considerable
discount, since we're a non-profit. I'll check into it.

Pretty slim pickings for video editing as FOSS. Cinelerra (Linux only)
is reasonably good, though nowhere near as complete as the commercial
packages. Several other promising projects, such as Jashaka, ran out
of steam. Latest version of Blender apparently has quite capable video
editing, and of course it is a full-featured 3D design and animation
program as well.

Ironically, there are tons of excellent FOSS video codecs and tools
(eg. FFMPEG and all its derivatives) - just not a lot of good
non-linear editing programs.
