Yes, we're obligated to maintain a public register of voting members; we
are not obligated to put that register on the googleable internet.

Indeed. In the case I'm thinking of, IIRC, the member asked if we were
OK with having Realname registered but not publishing. We said yes, and
then we accidentally published it due to accidentally sending an email
to board at lists which contained the name.

It took a lot of discussion for us to decide what to do at the time; I'm
pretty happy with the results (although of course I wish the
circumstances had been different).

We applied several patches to address that particular disclosure:
1. requested google to remove the index of the relevant page.
2. redacted the page.
3. robots.txt.

That's why robots.txt only disallows /pipermail/board/ and the only
redaction ever on noisebridge.net occurred. That episode also led to
/wiki/MemoryHole to codify our thoughts on the matter.

(Yes, I'm not linking to the discussion that happened at the time, nor
to the redacted page. Yes, there's plenty of metadata a few links from
this message to allow anyone who wants to, to uncloak the requesting
member. I hope I don't have to say that it would be seriously douchey
to do so.)
