Wow, I like this idea. I think a lot of people would like this idea.

Writing the software to do this sounds very feasible on a low budget.  
As you mentioned, the hard part will be building up a network of  
lenders.

All that's needed, really, is one lender to get started. Does anyone  
have any contacts in the banking world?

Or maybe something like Kiva?
