We could just configure the rooms (and whatever other resources are
contended - projector, sewing machines, mill, etc) as bookable
resources in the google calendar. Then whichever event the resource
accepts the invitation for is officially the one that gets it.

Of course, this would allow Skynet^WGoogle to affect the future of
mankind by manipulating our calendar data to prevent the rebellion
from ever securing a private meeting space in which to impregnate
Sarah Connor, but that seems a small enough price to pay for the added
convenience.
