[Noisebridge-discuss] First Atari Punk Console : Couple of questions

I am building an Atari Punk Console on a breadboard from this
schematic (hooking up the speaker and not the line out):

I have a couple of questions I was hoping someone on the list might be
able to help me with.

1. How do I hook up to potentiometers? Do I hook up all three
contacts? From the schematic, it looks like only two are hooked up.
Does one go to ground?

2. I actually have it working through a speaker, but the volume is
very low. I am using an 8 Ohm speaker:

Anyone have any idea why the volume might be so low?
