   regarding the idea that the space is "editable": 
I like the idea that each activity area is elastic: 
stuff for that activity can be compacted when not 
in use and expanded when in use. With respect to 
lights, it seems pretty easy to modify our new 
lighting scheme so that we can change lighting to 
suit our wishes--a matter of installing two switches 
instead of one and hanging two different light 
fixtures, one for each of the two switches. not 
perfect, but pretty flexible, and easy to modify 
any one light fixture so's to "get it right".
