[Noisebridge-discuss] Why the IRC trolls are still there [drama]

The real reason I forwarded this to the list is to show that control of a Noisebridge "asset" is being held by someone who has no desire to hold onto it and no desire to take on the responsibility that comes with it. And yet, Jake won't pass control on to anyone, except another person who really doesn't like IRC, doesn't use it, and has way too much on their plates.

Am I wrong, Andy? It would seem to me that you, too, are too busy to deal with IRC. And yet, you and Jake are the only ones with the ability to administrate the channel.

This is like setting up a machine in the space, holding onto the root shell, watching as the machine is compromised, then refusing to fix the box in anyway, and refusing to let anyone else fix it.

If just 1 person who actually uses IRC were to have control of the channel, no one would EVER have to bother Jake about it again!

But I guess he has to hold onto it to show us all how we are all losers on IRC.

Access controls on IRC exist specifically to help people recover from troll attacks like this. If you don't want that responsibility, hand it off to someone else, instead of gripping onto like a vice.

I fully admit that there are trolls who are after Jake in IRC. We deal with them all the time, usually by saying "Jake doesn't hang out here," but they know the channel is admin'd by Jake, and are using all of us to troll Jake by pissing us off, and leaving us no alternative but to ask jake to fix the channel.

Give us control, and we will NEVER bother you about IRC again! It's very, very simple. Pick someone who uses IRC, like me, ieatlint, lemonkey, ani-, atala, there are 20 names I could give right now... ANYONE other than the two people at Noisebridge who want nothing to do with IRC.
