[Noisebridge-discuss] Want to rework an Apple ][ Power Supply?

Do you want an Apple ][ hooked up to a modem on an acoustic coupler at
the space? You know you do, and you want to use it to serial console
into an ssh session to your GPGPU EC2 instance, right?

I found an Apple ][ on the street the other day, and it seems to work.
It boots, but the keyboard doesn't work. RESET does something, but
it's a bit wonky. My supposition is that the ROM is a bit mangled and
needs to be rewritten, which shouldn't be too hard.

Also, a few minutes after booting, the power supply caught fire, just
a little bit. The machine continued running, despite the whole "smoke
coming out of power supply" thing. It was slow enough that I could
remove the supply and throw it into a bucket of water.

The machine was destined to be attached to the acoustic coupler at the
space, but: power supply fire and non-functioning keyboard.

Personally, I can't make the time to recondition the power supply, but
there are plenty of talented electronics people around the space who
can make the few small repairs needed and get the Apple ][ back
running in original condition.

(Alternately, we can slip a teensy AT power supply in there, but
that's not nearly as awesome. And it has to be really, really small,
as the power supply on the ][ was a long skinny thing, like you find
in redundant rackmount supplies.)
