Keep in mind that by sleeping at the space, a meal is presented to
any bed bugs that might be around. Now, these critters may or may not
be at 2169, but given there is a very real and rising epidemic of bed
bugs here in SF, and given the volume and variety of people passing
through the space, it is not at all far-fetched to imagine these bugs
coming through the door. If (more likely when) that happens, and
people are sleeping in the space on a somewhat regular basis, it will
be very easy for an infestation to become established. It is very
difficult to completely eradicate bed bug infestations. Given the
amount of clutter these bugs would be happy to take up residence in,
it would most likely be impossible to get rid of them.

Sleeping at Noisebridge is not just annoying -- it's quite literally
a public health issue. It doesn't matter what your rationale is for
sleeping at the space. The bed bugs will not quiz you about this. They
will merely chomp into your flesh, drink your blood, and make lots of
baby bugs.

One bed bug prevention measure that comes to mind would be to haul
all the couches off to the dump and replace them with folding metal
chairs. I for one am becoming increasingly leery of even so much as
sitting on these part-time beds.

Regards,

John
