Hi,

Um hello there.
Perhaps people like me must go through many changes to learn this
simple concept;
there is a real need to conceal one's martial arts training.

OK... This is going to a little sound judgmental; but my intentions are good.
Don't practice your martial art in Dolores park.
Also... don't practice your martial art at Noisebridge.

But why?
Because. You are showing off. Even if you are not showing off you are
still showing off.

To me, you are basically saying that you don't already have a serious
regular practice established and you would like support from your
hacker community with this endeavor. That's too bad.
I think it would be more appropriate to seek support from a martial
arts community.
In San Francisco and the surrounding bay area there are many such communities.

I train regularly and do not have any need to talk about it.
Although I don't talk much about my training I do in fact often talk
about things which might further my understanding of martial arts
though not directly related.
Someone mentions swimming and I might get into a conversation about side-stroke.
I can spell it out simply: It's the fucking stealthiest way to move
through the water, no splashes and you can maintain a 180 degree
visual from behind to in front on your left or right side....
Many times I have thought about how LEDs can be used as weapons.
My Surefire flashlight sure as hell is a weapon. It's a sharp heavy metal object
that is alarmingly bright.

At a hacker space we can do other interesting things with martial arts concepts!
I have had many discussions with certain people at Noisebridge about weapons;
how they work, how to disable them, how to construct them, new ideas
for weapons that don't yet even exist! (or do they?)

As a hacker space I believe we should take a different approach. Train
somewhere else
but use the space to make weapons or collaborate with other folks to
learn some concepts.

Best,

David
