[Noisebridge-discuss] Android users can detect CarrierIQ, everyone else is out of luck.

The meetup I organized for NB back in June drew about 45 people. I rooted my phone there with the help of everyone. It took me about 3 hours. I documented the process and created a wiki page for it (which Owen edited to make it nicer to read):https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Android_and_Arduino

My EVO has carrier iq on it according to the Voodoo app, and it is a

lot so I prefer the Stock roms)

When a dev roots and packages a stock rom, they aren't removing

CarrierIQ, simply because no one knew about it? This is an

interesting question that might become obsolete very fast since the

source for android has been released. I assume that one can build

one's own android system, and getting device drivers is going to be

the real problem, but maybe someone else can tell me better.

I also bought a Coby Kyros 8125 tablet and found there were no roms

for it; it has 2.3.3 on it and the Gingerbreak exploit does not work

for it. I'd like to learn how to root an android system manually,

from scratch, using the android SDK; I already spent some time

checking out various tutorials but I haven't completed a root of it.
