  It seems appropriate to solicit a statement from Patrick. Here
  is what I said to Patrick a few minutes ago:

    It is important that you have a chance to offer a statement.
    As the person responsible for handling statements and
    correspondence, I would like to reiterate my request for
    your statement. Given that I am not able to reveal the
    nature of claims or claimants to you, you might ask: a
    statement about what? We specifically invite a statement and
    corroborating evidence pertaining to the email discussion
    you mention, between you and a female member of the
    community, in which you, by your own account, use the phrase
    "smart mature woman".

  I can't very well send everyone else's statement to Patrick;
  but I can't ask him for a statement against claims that I
  refuse to reveal. I've asked for a statement pertaining to a
  relevant event that he mentioned in his correspondence on the
  list.
