in this case, my interest is in getting some kind
of low to moderate bandwidth access to the internet
for my own box (systemateka.com) in a place that's
conveniently accessible.
it seems to me likely that there are other groups
also willing to spring for such at a rate that would
partially or maybe fully offset NB's costs (i.e. at
least pay for more than what we'd use).
consider this a proposal to bring in a tiny bit
of positive revenue to NB.
as to the linux training, i removed the two 1Us
from Susan the Rack so's to help reduce the monthly
electrical bill. they're currently in a little
mini-rack in the turing classroom. we turn them on
when we want to play with them and keep them off the
rest of the time. it's good to have physical access
to the boxes one administers, especially when
climbing the learning curve.
it would be great to have an internet accessible
box for the linux study group.
