I use these links as references when machining:
Screw and Nut Threads Size Chart - Engineers
Edge<http://www.engineersedge.com/screw_threads_chart.htm>
Tap & Clearance Drill
Sizes<http://www.littlemachineshop.com/Reference/tapdrill.php> (that
page also has a PDF with metric thread info. And note that it recommends 75%
thread for aluminum or plastics, and 50% thread for steels. I have had
excellent luck following those guidelines over the last few years. Some
places recomment 65% thread for everything, but I don't like that.)
Drill Chart <http://gearhob.com/eng/design/drill_eng.htm>
Speeds/Feeds Calc<http://www.americanmachinist.com/Calculators/SpeedsFeeds.aspx>
Design Standards <http://www.efunda.com/DesignStandards/design_home.cfm>
I've been in charge of product design and CNC machine programming at my work
for the last 5 years, so I've got a lot of good machining experience. If any
of you guys ever have any questions, feel free to e-mail me. I've set up my
gmail filters always to mark all regular noisebridge threads as read (to
avoid clutter without completely removing them from view) so I normally
won't see something directed at me - unless my e-mail address is
specifically in the "to" field. So if you want to get my attention, even if
you're sending something to the whole group, tack on my e-mail address
separately to make sure I see it!
