[Noisebridge-discuss] Board and Officer Elections

Greetings, people of Noisebridge!

Our President (all praise be to her name) has directed me to initiate
our [constitutionally-required ][1] annual elections for board
members, and subsequent selection of officers for the coming year. I
have consulted with our President (all praise be to her name), and
last year's Chief Returning Officer, and we have formulated a cunning
plan, articulated below.

Starting today, nominations are open for the 2013 board. To nominate
someone, add their name to the nominations page on the wiki:
<https://www.noisebridge.net/wiki/Board/2013_Nominations>. You may
also want to let your nominee know about their nomination so that they
can consider accepting, also by editing that wiki page.

Nominations will remain open until our regular Tuesday meeting on
January 29th, when we'll agree on the final slate for the ballot (by
consensus, of course). A few weeks later, on February 19th (also a
Tuesday), we hold our constitutionally-required Annual General Members
Meeting where we vote on the board.

Following last year's rip-roaring success, I propose that we use
continue to use approval voting, and nominate Leif to be our Chief
Returning Officer. He'll make the ballots (or voting software), ensure
that every member has the opportunity to vote, then tally and announce
the results. The suspicious types among us will have the opportunity
to make an independent tally if we like.

I hope that we can obtain consensus around this plan at the meetings
tomorrow and next week. If you have any questions, suggestions,
amendments, or other proposals, please get in touch. I'll be at
Noisebridge or the Sycamore from about 6pm tomorrow.

If you have no idea what I'm on about, rest assured that it really
doesn't matter, and there's very little likelihood that it'll affect
your life in any way.

Your humble servant
Tom

P.S. I would also like to direct anyone interested in being on
Noisebridge's board to:

1. Have their head checked, and
2. Peruse the [pledge][2] I promulgated last year. It may come in handy.
