That's ridiculous.  "Exposed to attack" is the wrong way to look at it --
people don't steal things where other people can see them.  A secluded spot
nobody can see into is a big thievery green light.  You don't protect
things by secluding them, you make them vulnerable.

Ideally, IMO, shelves would be spread evenly throughout the space, not
clustered together creating a dead zone.
