In that situation I'd recommend getting a lighter laptop, like a 10" or
11" netbook.  For the projector you probably need a VGA output, and
there aren't really any good tablets that do VGA.

The Kindle Fire and Samsung Galaxy are both decent android tablets, but
they don't have a VGA output option.  You might be able to get something
working with a USB framebuffer device but they're not regularly
supported on Android.

Hmmmm, an Android tablet with MHL might be able to do VGA with this
interesting little dongle:

Make sure you get a tablet that supports MHL though, the connector is
microUSB but the electrical signals aren't USB.
