Thank you, Liz, for letting me know!

I realise that perspectives will differ in fundamental ways on this
issue, and that aspects of it will be impossible for me to appreciate
on some levels. I strive to be thoughtful, and apologise in advance
if I inadvertently give offence.

  My unsolicited opinion(s):
I agree that safety is paramount.
I believe that permanent shunning, or casting out, is an extremely
destructive process.
I hope that (and this may be entirely consistent with Liz's
proposal) we can find an alternative to such a drastic action.
I think it would be better for Jesse to speak for himself at the
meeting, than for decisions about him to be taken in his absence.
I submit that Punishment, is going to be meted out by the "justice"
system, therefore I advocate decisions taken by the community focus on
safety vice retribution.

Finally, this event has provoked an interesting train of thought...

To what degree do we, as community members, "owe" it to the
community to confess our crimes? If I am cited for drunk driving,
and subsequently offer to drive the Noisebus to toorcamp without
letting anyone know about the offence, am I betraying the community?
What if I tell Liz, but not Danny? Have I discharged my duty to the
community? Should Jesse have brought this event up at the next
meeting after Camp Tipsy? Who within the community knew about the
incident? If there are others in the community who knew, and did not
bring it up at a meeting, are they guilty of a lesser betrayal?

Does anyone else want to confess anything?
