[Noisebridge-discuss] Extremely sketchy event w/ bikes just now

FWIW, I stand by what I said in the OP. If I believe someone in the space
is stealing something, I will call the police on them. I will also call the
police for things such as assault.

I should note that I'm also the guy making cards informing people about how
to assert their rights with police. I am a strong fan of constitutional
rights and protecting oneself from wrongful or overreaching police action.

But when it comes to getting someone to take care of violent behavior that
harms me or others in my community, that's who gets the job. I don't
believe in vigilantism or omertà.

Ultimately it will always come down to a decision made by any of up to five
or so people who have maybe a minute to decide (often more like 20 seconds
once they even realize what's going on). When shit happens, it is simply
not a time for consensus.

My concern is that people making such decisions in the moment (including
me) have enough information to make an informed judgment about whether they
are dealing with theft; legal but unwanted behavior; or just the amount of
craziness that we routinely tolerate.
