Factories have gone fractal and open-source. Web-based collaboration
tools and small-batch technology such as cheap 3D printers, 3D scanners,
laser cutters, and assembly robots are transforming manufacturing. It’s
a global marketplace where anybody can play. Some players find
themselves going from hobby to market dominance in months.

Chris Anderson left the editorship of Wired magazine to devote full time
to his own Maker start-up, 3D Robotics, partnering with a 22-year-old
from Tijuana. His book, Makers: The New Industrial Revolution,
justifies its subtitle. A revolution is indeed under way.

"The Makers Revolution," Chris Anderson Lam Research Theater, Yerba
Buena Center (Misson and 3rd), San Francisco, 7pm, Tuesday, February 19.
The show starts promptly at 7:30pm.
