"--Jarrod, was any attempt made to empower food hackers to take the lead on
kitchen decisions?"

Hi Johny.

A hard question to answer, but here is a try. Of course, I only speak from
my own perspective.

In the broad sense, Yes, I believe we are all empowered to take the lead on
any project at Noisebridge. All any of us need to do is make the effort to
lead and hopefully others will follow and help. Any of us at Noisebridge,
at any time, may be a food hacker depending on what we choose to work on.
The Rebase meetings, wiki pages, and correspondence on the discussion list
are open to all of the community.

This being said, I think you may more specifically mean "did those
attending the Rebase meeting seek out the food hackers to engage them in
the decision making process?", in a manner, empowering them by showing that
their specific input was important. I am guessing that in this case food
hackers refers to 'those individuals who regularly and overtly practice
food hacking gatherings and events at Noisebridge'. If this is the case
then also, Yes, as far as the leaders of the Vegan Hacker events are
concerned.

If you are asking if we encouraged food hackers to run the project, then
No, I did not ask or encourage anyone to run the kitchen project. In in the
spirit of do-ocracy I am generally uncomfortable asking others to take the
lead on projects. If a leader, or leaders, emerged it was their own will,
hopefully because they were encouraged by the energy of the Rebase
discussions.
