[Noisebridge-discuss] Frontend Web Development, Monday 8pm: Version control (Git) and the command line

This class is a general overview on version control and the command line.
I've taught how to use an FTP client to upload files to the web, but the
truth is that most developers don't do that anymore - rather, they
collaborate with their peers by using version control systems, which allows
them to keep track of their work in a reliable fashion and push it to the
web.

Again, this class isn't about web development per se - it's just an
important introduction to using the command line to work with Git, one of
the most popular version control systems. Everyone will create their own
repository and check in their work.

We're going to sign up for a free account at GitHub (https://github.com/)
and install Git (http://git-scm.com/). Those on Windows should install Git
for Windows (http://msysgit.github.com/ - all default options are fine).

If you can't make it to this week's lecture, you can watch a live video
stream of the class. Join this Google+ Event to be notified of when to hop
on (you don't have to be a Google+ member):

This video stream will also be available to watch after the class is
complete.

No recap for this class - feel free to come at 8pm, since this class
doesn't require knowledge of anything related to web development. If you
haven't been attending the rest of the class, this is a great one-off
lecture! Tell your friends!

This class and the space in which it's taught are entirely free to attend.
Please bring a laptop. Read all of the details here:
