[Noisebridge-discuss] why would hackers come to noisebridge?

Apologies if you’ve already tried this, I’ve been away from the space for the past year. Has anyone thought of establishing a certain time considered after-hours and banning people for x months during those hours who have been caught sleeping on the second time? Maybe that and not allowing "sleeping materials” (like blankets, pillows, etc) to be brought in period. If their goal is to use noisebridge as a sleeping space and they are quickly banned during after-hours then they don’t really have much opportunity to fly under the radar.

The Hacker Dojo is supposed to be members only from 10pm to 8am, but there's always people who sneak in to sleep there. In the early days of the Dojo, the last member to leave would kick everyone out and put a deadbolt in the door. We never had a problem with finding sleepy people in the morning!

This was done at the south bay hackerspace when we didn't have doors that could be opened from the inside. I remember I had to ask people sleeping to leave because I was about to lock up. It was definitely a good way to prevent people from staying overnight.

Lately I worry that even classes are threatened because infrastructure has decayed to the point where hosting a workshop is a challenge. You no longer know if there will be a working bathroom, a stable internet connection or a roll of solder (and it's frustrating to donate parts or dedicate time to fix things when they go missing or are left in disarray the next time you come by).
