Hey Adam,
You do not need to be a member of Noisebridge to come and do cool stuff there.
Noisebridge is always open to anyone to come by and benefit and contribute to the community. We have lots of classes and workshops, tools, internet, supplies -- please come by and make use of Noisebridge -- we are a community resource.
Best,
Mitch.

Hah, well I'll be back in the bay later this week. I'm not actually a member of NB, but if fixing stuff is required, that's my thing :-)
Cheers, -Adam---

Damn, Adam it sounds like it would be GREAT to have you around for calibrating. Any chance you could drop by NB sometime when I'm there and spread the knowledge?
Also, about the tools - there are ZERO needle nose pliers in the red bin. I am very familiar with the red bins. Woodshop yielded zilch too. I mean, there are a LOT of tools missing. just saying.

I have one
of those full spectrum models ( its at Sudo room right
now) and it's not an incredibly complex machine. I
would say that wiring up the laser tube would take only
about 1 minute, the difficulty is aligning the laser there
after adjusting all the mirrors.
Last time I did this I used polycarbonate
glasses ( which are opaque at that wavelength ) and a magnet
over the safety switch sensor to make the machine think it
wasnt open. I then held down the later test button and used
a piece of cardboard to determine where the beam is and
where it should go, and adjusted accordingly.
If anybody wants to take a stab at it, doing it
that way shouldn't take more than 30 minutes.

We've
got a huge bin of screwdrivers in the dirty shop. Needle
nose pliers
tend to end up in the big red rolling toolbox.
