Hi Caroline,

Yes I printed out three copies of a spreadsheet collection containing
pin/signal connections and testpoint locations for:

   - nrf51822 BLE board Rev A
   - nrf51822 BLE board Rev B
   - nrf51822 BLE board Rev C
   - nrf51822 BLE board Rev D
   - CC2541 BLE board Rev ?

For the nrf51822 boards, with this data you should be able to hook up power
and a debugger, then register with Nordic to get demo code. Nordic offers a
GCC compiler solution so you won't have to pay any fees aside from getting
a debugger. The RF PA/LNA (power amplifier and low-noise amplifier) may
need one extra line of code to get the radio to work but I think it's
transparent when using the Nordic BLE stack.

For the CC2541 boards, with this data you should be able to hook up power
and a debugger, then register with Texas Instruments to get demo code. Not
sure about GCC compiler options as they work a lot with IAR (lame).

I suggest grabbing a debugger from one of these companies for ~$50-$100 I
think which should then license you to compile and get something running.
Then of course you can make it do whatever you wish!
