[Noisebridge-discuss] Assistance with a 3D printing project

Hi,

I run a youth bicycle education program for the YMCA called YBike, and I
have a 3D printing project that I'm looking for some help with.

A large part of our job here is to draw chalk courses on the blacktop at
school sites for kids to practice riding our bikes through. We have a tool
called the "Chalk City Road Maker" that makes this job infinitely easier
(and has saved all of us from needing premature backiotomies), however the
company that makes these went belly up years ago. We still have a few of
these tools in action, but they're starting to show their age.

Here's what I need help with-

The main frame of the tool is pretty easy to replicate in a variety
materials & designs, however a sold replication of the chalk holder has
been elusive. It looks to me, though, like it would be pretty easy to
replicate the end from one of our existing units pretty easily- it's just
two 2" x 3" clamshell pieces bolted together around a piece of spring steel.

I've got a background in bicycle mechanics (almost 25 years now), and would
happily trade labor or instruction if that would sweeten the deal for
anyone willing to help out.
