The janky bit is the connection from the AT&T handoff in the basement.
Dr Jesus ran some CAT-5 out the DJ-booth window to the basement. That
run is a big fucking pile of lulz. It's also a pretty long run for DSL;
we debated moving the DSL modem to the basement for better performance
but never did. Good thing, now that the basement is locked. To restore
it, we need to get access to the basement, re-run the line, and patch
down a phone jack in the network closet. We should probably also run it
inside, but in a way that doesn't catch the eye of the inspektor.
My instinct, therefore, is to hold off on all of this until inspection
is done.
The other janky thing is the speed. Maybe 10 Mbit/sec at most. We get 25
from Monkeybrains, and probably equivalent from SFLan if we get that.
If we just use Sonic for static IPs, we can probably get a few from
Monkeybrains. I don't think the extra bandwidth is worth it.
