[Sem] Retaining the SEM and building a sputter coater

True, but for our purposes I figure a dollar store DVM and a photocopy of the lookup table (I think I've seen an XY graph of the function and perhaps a formula as well) should do for now. The embedded setpoint function should serve as a good HV interlock for the coater, and for the diff pump heater for the SEM as well.
I've never heard of carbon coating for an SEM, isn't that more of a TEM thing? I do have a few carbon coaters.

Looked at the user manual in a little more detail. These are the analog ones, we will have to come up with a separate display. It might be a lot more convenient to spend a little more and get a gauge matched with a display. Multimeter, arduino + LCD, etc can work but we will have to do something to make it readable

Actually, here's a pair of Mini Convectrons for about $40 shipping included. We really could use 2 or 3. The one pictured has 1/8" npt fittings, which are probably the most practical for us at this point.

Assuming it works (they are really expensive working so I had to piece it together from eBay after doing a bunch of research) I may have a Varian diffusion pump to donate to NB for SEM / sputter system use. I will try to play around with coating on my setup in the near future.

I can usually only meet on weekends
though.

build a pretty nice one over 2 or 3
months of weekends, tops.
