Anyone want some chickens? I'd buy one if I cooked. In fact I'll buy
one if someone else wants to cook it for me :)

Marc serves on the Board of City Slicker Farms
with me. Not the least expensive chicken you
will ever buy, but possibly the yummiest and
healthiest! Please feel free to pass along.
I'll be figuring out a way to get mine from
Oakland to SF, so we can sort out an SF pick-up
location as needed.

(Kathleen - I already ordered one for you and
Steve!)

Dear prospective grass fed chicken customers,

I am writing to let you know that I have
tentatively inserted your order for a delicious,
humane, environmentally beneficial grass fed
chicken.

Our chickens are raised outdoors in bottomless
pens on pasture that is never sprayed with
anything. The pen is moved 1 pen space every
single day to ensure that the birds have new
forage daily. This results in chicken that has
the roasting qualities you've come to expect
with the health benefits of the vitamins,
minerals, and fats that can't come from
processed feed and the flavor that you can only
get by letting an animal forage naturally. They
do need supplemental chicken feed and we use the
best: organic chick starter from Modesto
Milling. They only use domestically grown
organic grain!

The chickens come processed by yours truly with
a neck, a heart, and a liver in a snack bag
inside the body and are vacuum bagged in an
oxygen permeable freezer bag
manufactured specifically for chicken. They will
eat deliciously up to 1 year in the freezer. The
price of our chicken is $5.50/lb.

So thanks for being part of the vanguard group
that is bringing my chicken to a pickup spot in
your area. I have a few challenges to
overcome before I can move this from tentative
to definite:

1) I need at least 15-20 orders to make the gas
and time costs pencil out. I will settle for
only getting close to this number for
bootstrapping purposes but currently I only have
5. I need to do
better by the end of the day Thursday or I'll
have to try to build more audience and try this
again with September's batch. Please
circulate this among your "foodie" friends who
want to know what the fusion of modern and
ancient farming practices tastes like when it
comes to chicken.

2) I need to figure out where the drop site will
be. Where is a
reasonably accessible and safe place for me to
park my little
refrigerator pickup, pull out a small cash box
and accept cash,
personal checks, and credit cards from 2-3
people at any given time? I'll make a pickup
window on a Tuesday evening between 5-6:30 (does
that work for everyone?) so not everyone will
show up at once. So if you have any ideas where
a good location might be, please send them to
me.

Thank you in advance for reading my long email
and helping me make a superior food source
available in your area.

-marc
